I ...
I resent the fact that just because I am against illegal immigration and don't feel they should "just be granted citizenship" for breaking the law, that somehow makes me an uncaring, unsupportive person. At least, this is what Cactus Jack from ILJ seems to think. He speaks of those who disagee with him of being judgemental, and that he is "talking to brick walls". And yet somehow, is he not also being judgemental by criticizing us? Are we not talking to a brick wall by trying to beat it into his head that we DO NOT think that illegal immigrants are bad people?

I am SO against amnesty for nearly all illegals. They came here by breaking the law. I don't get to just break the law driving & expect amnesty. Maybe if I had a good reason for it (rushing someone to a hospital, maybe), then amnesty is appropriate. But for the most part, no way. It's not that I have a sweeping generalization about illegals being good or bad "people." But they are lawbreaking people. And that's not ok imo.
See, this is how I feel. Like I said at ILJ - What kind of lesson are we teaching the rest of the country if we basically reward people for breaking the law? We are teaching them that it's OK to break the law as long as they are good people or are doing it for good reasons. The law just doesn't work that way. To me it's not fair or right to do something illegal and then demand amnesty. What's the point in even making it illgeal in the 1st place?
What then differenciates an illegal immigrant from a refugee?
Is this guy not an average ILJ fundie? Because the conservative majority are against illegal immigration. Dunno, I'm going to try and not click because I haven't been over there in awhile. I've not gotten into this immigration issue at all really.
Just consider him a jackass and ignore the s.o.b.Great philosophy right there.
The anonymous comment is mine. My spyware checker seems to be eating my livejournal cookie...anyway, welcome to my world :p
My computer does the same thing sometimes. It's irritating.Somewhere out there, the devil is iceskating.... :p
Hmm...not really sure actually.
It's an historic moment in ILJ history: Flannel, Breni, and Ian all agreeing on a hot topic. ;)
